Jonah 3:1-10

The end of Chapter 2 finds Jonah expelled from the great fish and back onto dry ground. After

this incredible event, we don’t have any indication of the timeframe, if any, before God speaks to

Jonah again. One possibility is Jonah returned to his home to recover from this miraculous 3-

day encounter and attempted to go about his life, still refusing to accept this mission from God.

Or perhaps, God immediately speaks to Jonah as he lay on the ground. What we do know is

that God was not finished with Jonah just because of his initial rejection and fleeing from His

command. God allowed Jonah to run, to come to the end of himself before the story moved

forward.
